Kid Cudi & King Chip Headline Cleveland’s 2013 Summer Jam

Image
Being a huge Cudi fan I just wanted to spread news that Kid Cudi will be headlining Z107.9‘s 2013 Summer Jam on July 14th, at Jacob’s Pavilion, Cleveland, OH. The whole list of performers include Kid Cudi, King Chip, MGK, Ray Jr., Stalley, Ray Cash, Sevyn Streeter, and T Rone. They are definitely representing Cleveland with this line up. Tickets start at $30 and you can purchase them here.

*Kid Cudi & King Chip will not be performing anymore.

Kanye West’s New Album “Yeezus” June 18th

Kanye West will release his sixth solo album entitled “Yeezus” on June 18th. He recently performed two songs from the album, “New Slaves” and “Black Skinhead” on the finale of SNL. I was a huge fan of the way he marketed the sneak peek of his album by projecting videos in select cities on buildings of his song “New Slaves.” Until June 18th, here is a picture of the album cover.

Kid Cudi “Indicud” April 23

I
ndicud is the title of Kid Cudi’s forth album. I have been a Kid Cudi fan since 08 and have been to all of his concerts. From all I the official singles and leaks I have heard, this is going to be some of his best work. From his show in SXSW, you could tell he spent a lot of time on this album.

Regarding Cudi’s exit out of G.O.O.D Music. I was shocked and upset to hear he left Kanye’s label G.O.O.D Music just because I thought it was such a unique group of artists under Kanye. However, I’m happy for Cudi because hes more focused on his own ventures, “Wickd Awesome.” It’s good to hear there is no beef and there is still great friendships between Kanye and Kid Cudi and the other members of G.O.O.D Music. I know Kid Cudi and King Chip have great music in store for the future.

Finally, I wanted to talk about the leaks. As a fan, I don’t mind the leaks because I get the hear awesome music. If I was an artist, I would probably be pissed but, Cudi is always chill when it comes to leaks. In my case, I pre-ordered the album way before leaks popped up. That is why I’m posting this because I want to encourage everyone to go out and buy this album. This is Cudi’s best work and I believe everyone will be able to connect with his story in his music.

Tracklist
1. The Resurrection of Scott Mescudi
2. Unfuckwittable
3. Just What I Am Feat. King Chip
4. Young Lady Feat. Father John Misty
5. King Wizard
6. Immortal
7. Solo Dolo Part II Feat. Kendrick Lamar
8. Girls Feat. Too Short
9. New York City Rage Fest
10. Red Eye Feat. Haim
11. Mad Solar
12. Beez Feat. RZA
13. Brothers Feat. King Chip & A$AP Rocky
14. Burn Baby Burn
15. Lord of The Sad and Lonely
16. Cold Blooded
17. Afterwards (Bring Yo Friends) Feat. Michael Bolton & King Chip
18. The Flight of the Moon Man

Final thoughts on tracks I’ve heard and looking forward to the most. The Resurrection of Scott Mescudi has an awesome cinematic vibe and I’m looking forward to hearing a cd quality version of it. He played a snippet of it during a radio interview. Unfuckwittable sounds like an awesome song to rage to, I remember him tweeting the title a long time ago. Of course, Just What I Am, King Wizard, Immortal, and Girls are amazing tracks that are out already. Solo Dolo Part II leaked and is amazing, Kendrick was a good person to put on the track in my opinion and the vibe is different from the MOTM Solo Dolo. Brothers is the other leak I heard, track is OK but great collab. Finally, I’m looking forward to Red Eye because I recently just started listening to Haim and they are musically talented and creative on a different level. Either way, the whole album will be dope.

South by Southwest 2013

“Don’t try to make SXSW happen, you’ve just got to let SXSW happen to you.”
Image
I’ve always wanted to go to South by Southwest ever since I saw blogs on Kid Cudi‘s un-retirement announcement in 2009 (Yes, he wanted to retire but stuck around because of the fans.) and Kanye West bringing the whole G.O.O.D Music crew with Jay-Z in 2011. I waited to actually go though because a friend told me that without a badge and being under 21 it’s not really worth it. Now that I’m 21 this was when I wanted to go and I had a feeling one of my favorite artists, Kid Cudi, was going to perform after Buku. Unfortunately, I didn’t plan to stay for the whole SXSW showcase because I needed to get back to College Station today. I will definitely keep my eyes on twitter though and try and catch live streams, I hear Kanye West is rumored to make a special appearance for Jay-Z!

Anyways, back to my experience. So, I found out the confirmation of Kid Cudi‘s appearance for Myspace’s Secret Show through Facebook and RSVP’d. Unfortunately, I had no luck on the RSVP. I’ve been to past Cudi shows and have learned that patience and networking is the way to get in. I was lucky to meet a guy named Mazena who worked for Myspace. He recognized how big of a Cudi fan I was and hooked me up with a Myspace bracelet the day of the show. I can’t thank Mazena enough, he really made this an experience of a lifetime for me. SXSW shows are different than any tour date, you can feel a closer connection to artists.

I don’t want to blabber to much but, SXSW was amazing. Austin is a great city, the SXSW atmosphere is awesome. People who with unique personalities that want to enjoy music, art, film, and food. The quote at the top is so true and I think everybody should know it. I can’t wait until next year, I will definitely plan ahead and RSVP sooner to more shows.

Here are some photos of my experience and please check out new Myspace its definitely trying to make a statement and add new ground to social media, music, and fans.
